The direct benefits which flow from Purpose 1 includes the increased social interaction, reducing loneliness and isolation, providing opportunities for members to chat, developing friendship and companionship. The direct benefit flowing from Purpose 2 will be developing skills, provide a 'second chance' of learning opportunities, continuous
learning in gaining new skills as well as increased confidence, enhancing heath awareness quality of life and well-being. The direct benefit flowing from Purpose 3 will be the alleviation of a sense of social isolation and loneliness, through social interaction and completion of stimulating activities leading to a more inclusive and cohesive community. The benefits arising from each of the purposes can be demonstrated through attendance records and attendance at sessions and by written and verbal feedback and reviews of the programme. Public displays of completed projects will allow extended family members and the wider community for verbal feedback. No harm The main beneficiaries of the Derrynoose Great Oaks are the senior members of the local area and their immediate families. Any private benefit flowing from these purposes is incidental and necessary to ensure good governance of the group.
What your organisation does
The group provides a safe and friendly social space for our members, attempting to combat the issues of loneliness and isolation. It was established to allow connections between senior citizens in the Derrynoose area and keep socially active by the provision of leisure time and recreational activities in the interests of social welfare designed to
improve the conditions of life for older people by maintaining a healthy mind and body.
