Public benefits

The main benefits that flow from purpose one include the enhanced building of cross-community relationships across the sectarian divide in our society. The direct benefits of purpose's two and three include cross-community historical understanding which happens through sincere and meaningful dialogue around often controversial historical events

involving participants from diverse backgrounds across the spectrum including former combatants in the conflict. This helps support the building of mutual understanding and a wider reconciliation across the community divide. It also assists in the difficult processes of the lessening of sectarian responses and challenges established identity stereotypes that are prevalent in our society. The programme engagements and events are also popular with the Youth and Women's groups we work with as well as University Students both locally and Internationally. The direct benefits of purposes four and five include the training of Trustee's and other Volunteers in the field of community development and cross-community relationship-building as well as giving partner organisations access to our programmes and projects of which they benefit also from educational and social aspect of our work. The benefits from all of our purposes can be demonstrated through evidence gathered during the implementation of the various project programmes with participants and in sharing this information with the various funding bodies that have financed our work over the last two decades. Keeping in ongoing contact and consultation with community based groups and organisations that we work with closely with. This has proven to be an important element of maintaining trust and respect in between and across those taking part in the various activities. We have encountered no harm arising from our the various engagements and events carried out in our work and programmes and the responses to this have all been positive to the public good. Our beneficiaries include Women's Organisations, Youth Groups and Young People, University Students, Ex-combatants, history students and generally people interested in making our society one of inclusion and tolerance, and the understanding and acceptance of differing views and identities in this divided society.
