Public benefits
What are the direct benefits flowing from your organisation's purposes? - Advancement of health or saving of lives, individuals who use our club become more inclined to manage their poor mental health better (due to exercise being proven to promote good mental health), as well as many getting fitter and stronger as a result of the training within
the facility. Advancement of health is also an aim of ours to break down barriers and restrictions to those with possible conditions and allow a safe environment to train under the professional, trained and watchful eye of our many coaches - Advancement of education, we always have and will provide structured & dynamic programmes that enhance the knowledge and understanding (particularly of our young people) through receiving educational and personal development programmes - Advancement of amateur sport, has improved our community life through the provision of a boxing club sports and also the provision of a community fitness facility so that they can be used by the local community to learn and enjoy the benefits of exercise but also if the member so wish to train to compete within the area of Boxing as well as, as a club promoting the discipline and positive nature of the sport How can the benefits identified above be demonstrated? - Advancement of health or saving of lives - we have a wealth of individuals using the club to better their health, coaches are working on specific targets/programmes with these individuals and it is clear the positives it is generating (better management of depression, anxiety & suicide ideation), loss of weight for those wanting to be physically fitter, reduction in the use of medication for some members and a rise in confidence, motivation & self-esteem with many then volunteering the club and feeling the have purpose and direction. - Advancement of education, we provide structured & dynamic programmes that enhance knowledge, example we have trained many members of the community in advanced first aid, defib, child protection, and for our young people we have delivered numerous educational programmes around identity, confidence, mental health to name but a few - Advancement of amateur sport,we have produced an All Ireland Champion, Ulster Champion & Antrim Champion Is there any harm arising from any of the purposes? Boxing in it's nature can pose harm however we are heavily regulated and inspected by IABA and are subject to intensive training in child protection, advanced first aid, adults at risk, risk assessment, health and safety as well as infection control given the nature of the pandemic and ALL our coaches are fully trained and qualified by IABA. Who are the charity's beneficiaries? - The wider Ballysillan community and all potential residents should they wish to engage in the Club - The Young People who use the Club - The Adults who use the Club - The individuals who partake in programmes via other partners, these partners also benefit as we can meet their bespoke needs with provision of boxing, fitness, health & well-being programmes on their behalf - Other Boxing Clubs due to the advancement of our multi-club engagement (sparring, conditioning etc). Is there any private benefit flowing from any of the purposes? Is it incidental and necessary? The only private benefit would be the a sense of satisfaction when coaching someone making good progress and hitting targets (especially when producing champions in our youth), our coaches and volunteers are all unpaid but get a great sense of pride and positive uplift when they witness these case examples succeeding
What your organisation does
BallysillanABC believes in providing a safe, supportive, inclusive environment for all. Aims and objectives are met after consultation with everyone involved in the club as they are from the local community and welcome the use of their skills/experience towards bettering the community as a whole. We aim to deliver project's that will provide
enhancement of boxing skills/conditioning, educational opportunities, and experiences for young people, as well as those involved in the club & any adult who uses the club as a haven or general training facility. We aim to engage with the wider community through personal development & educational programmes and deliver on what the community needs to grow, develop and ultimately function. We endeavour to utilise the existing strengths of the adults & young people in the community to build upon and enable them to develop through the programmes we run. Although we have a strong ethos around Boxing and commit to training the stars of the future as well as promoting the background and culture of the sport for enjoyment and personal fulfilment our nurture nature advancement ensures that we look at each person individually - young and old and provide a holistic approach to their training. This includes providing top spec coaching while welcoming all members with disabilities (physical/mental), ethnic minorities, communication issues etc. No barrier is too large and at BallysillanABC we can use Boxing as a common ground to break down barriers and build positive relations for all. We are advocates of providing positive physical and mental health as well and emotional well-being and creating opportunities through cross community, inclusion, and multi-club advancement. We commit to being a hub for youth development to provide provision of dynamic and innovative programmes that engage the youth from an early age, promote healthy relationship to boxing and discipline as well as target all the systemic issues that affect our local community
