The direct benefits which flow from the advancement of religion purpose include promoting ecumenism within a neutral environment for clergy, laity and faith-based organisations, offering a place to heal and accept for individuals, reducing loneliness and deprivation in the locality, encouraging intergenerational interaction and promoting
reconciliation and positive mental health through discussion and sharing. The direct benefits which flow from the advancement of citizenship or community development include a promotion of mindfulness, encouraging local groups and families to spend time together picnicking and walking through the grounds which improves health, fitness and wellbeing. The direct benefits which flow from the advancement of education include the preservation of historical records of interest, improving development and learning of students from post-primary to university age particularly in the fields of theology, literature, IT and history. These benefits can be evidenced through visitor numbers, Benburb Sunday gate sales, ticket sales, monitoring of footfall attending church services. Monitoring and recording of user groups and numbers, feedback from our beneficiaries and community surveys. No harm arises from these purposes. The charities beneficiaries are members of the public that visit the site and avail of its services. In particular this benefits the local community of Benburb. There is no private benefit flowing from any of the purposes.
What your organisation does
In relation to the advancement of religion the charity engages in a number of activities including: ministry and pastoral activities, prayer and spirituality groups, religious retreats and other activities which promote the Christian faith. In relation to the advancement of citizenship or community development the charity runs mindfulness,
wellbeing, art, rehabilitation, counselling, cultural, heritage and creative arts programmes. In relation to the advancement of education the charity runs the Library and museum at Benburb Priory and undertakes educational seminars and works to archive, conserve, study and research its collection of books which dates back to the 16th century.
