Public benefits
Direct benefits include improved quality of life for individuals living within social housing estates/areas in Comber, with greater levels of community involvement & engagement, with statutory bodies operating in the area. Individuals have access to advice and support services around housing, benefits etc. Through partnership working with
statutory bodies, we support the reduction of ASB and improved community safety. Our community activities also enhance community cohesion and reduce social isolation. Benefits can be demonstrated via feedback from our beneficiaries (attendance at community events, via Facebook etc.) and from statutory agencies (general feedback & use of statistics such as ASB figures etc.). Number of issues addressed / improvements made in the area following lobbying/reporting of issues by group. There is no harm. The beneficiaries are individuals who live within social housing estates/areas in Comber and it's environs. Trustees of the group receive private benefit in the knowledge they gain from training such as first aid, managing charity finances, good governance etc. This training is incidental and necessary for the group to be able to operate.
What your organisation does
Comber Community Residents Group engages and works with staff from the Northern Ireland Housing Executive and various Housing Associations with stock in the Comber area, as well as with other statutory bodies including the PSNI, Ards & North Down Borough Council, DfI etc. We raise resident issues/queries and lobby for improvements within social
housing estates/areas of Comber. We also share agency updates, and general advice/information via our Facebook page. We signpost residents to appropriate statutory, voluntary and local organisations/groups. We also hold community events and activities such as clean-ups.
