Public benefits

The direct benefits include providing a safe space for men to engage with each other, therefore reducing isolation, raising self esteem, reducing stress leading to improved physical and mental health and wellbeing. Furthermore other benefits will include learning new skills, meeting with new people participating in a range of programmes

challenging themselves and enhancing wider Community Development. The benefits can be demonstrated by the numbers attending and actively participating in the men's shed. Furthermore through showcasing the work that is completed within the shed and providing opportunities for the community to engage at open days etc. Also providing good news stories in local community newsletters and other mediums. There will be the opportunity to learn new skills and to learn from others. This programme will also have a positive affect on the lives of many particularly in terms of physical and mental health and wellbeing. There is no harm arising from any of the purposes. The beneficiaries are primarily the men from the Dungiven and Surrounding areas. The men attending and the volunteers will can avail of training which will enable them to organise, plan and deliver programmes within our community. The benefits would be that the volunteers will receive certificates which may help them in their own personal development. This is an incidental benefit.

What your organisation does

We will carry out our Charitable purposes by providing a safe place and support network for men of all ages and abilities to meet together on a regular basis enabling them to learn new skills, share existing skills and knowledge, with others and to have fun learning and meeting together . We will also deliver a range of workshops including

practical advice and opportunities to raise awareness in terms of the importance of good mental health and well-being. We will continue to provide awareness programmes like the recent bowel cancer awareness session which provided our members with a comprehensive breakdown of symptoms and an insight into the operation of the new bowel cancer home test kit.
