Ballinran Community Association, by associating the statutory authorities, voluntary organisations and inhabitants of Ballinran and surrounding areas, endeavours to advance education and to provide facilities in the interests of the social welfare, education, recreation or other leisure-time occupation with the object of improving the condition of
life for the said inhabitants. The direct benefits flowing from our objectives Company’s objects are to promote the benefit of the inhabitants of Ballinran and surrounding area without distinction of sex, sexual orientation, race or of political, religious or other opinions. Ballinran Community Association direct benefits include the advancement of citizenship or community development, provision of recreational and leisure facilities in a rural area. Ballinran Community Association will deliver community development, rural development, volunteer development and services/space to improve connectivity in an area of rural isolation and deprivation. Benefits can be demonstrated through the appraisal of our activities, programmes and services with direct participants/beneficiaries and with other relevant stakeholders. This includes gathering feedback via a range of means such as interviews, focus groups, surveys and questionnaires. We produce an annual report on activities and an annual financial report on the financial position of Ballinran Community Association. There is no harm flowing from the purposes. The beneficiaries of our purposes are those predominantly living in the District Electoral area of the Mournes in County Down. We also benefit people from across a wider catchment in Newry, Mourne and Down District Council. There is no private benefit from the purposes.
What your organisation does
Ballinran Community Association aim to provide a range of services to the local rural community. Ballinran Community Association seeks to regenerate and renew the rural community within its area by developing a new range of services and facilities to improve the overall wellbeing of the population. Ballinran is an isolated rural area and is not in
close proximity to many mainstream services. Ballinran Community run the Bracken Centre which provides a focal point for the development of new community services and the establishment of a stronger community identity. Services currently delivered include e.g., education programmes, rural support group, music, art and culture programmes, residents’ associations, health promotion, community safety and mentoring support. DAERA, Southern Regional College and other statutory organisations use Bracken Centre to facilitate rural programmes. Various other community-based groups use Ballinran Community Associations Bracken Centre for a very wide range of activities. We offer accommodation and space for social, recreational and educational purposes, delivering courses, tuition and training to help people of all ages and interests.
