Public benefits

The benefits flowing from purpose 1 include the provision of high quality childcare for out of school hours in a safe environment. The children benefit socially and also in building their independence. The children have the opportunity to enjoy extracurricular activities they may not be able to access elsewhere, such as arts and crafts, sports

etc. Benefits flowing from purpose 2 include the ability for parents to access this high quality service at affordable rates in order to facilitate them in seeking work, increasing hours of work, education or training and in doing so enabling them to better the quality of life they have for them and their families. These benefits are demonstrated by the high numbers attending the Club, very positive feedback received from parents and children and from the annual inspections carried out by Social Services confirming that the Club is running safely in line with their procedures and providing a high level of care. There is no direct harm flowing from these purposes. The beneficiaries are school children from three local primary schools in the area of benefit and their families who use the service. The only private benefit flowing from the purposes is the remuneration and training of the organisation's staff which is incidental and necessary.

What your organisation does

Draperstown After School Club provide accessible and affordable childcare for children of primary school age outside of school hours and during school holidays. The children are collected from the local primary schools as part of this service and brought to the facility. The children are provided with healthy snacks and supported in completing

their homework by qualified and experienced staff. The children have access to different play areas and resources to meet their various interests and hobbies. We organise extracurricular activities such as art workshops, sports and drama. We encourage the children in their independence, the children have formed their own committee and in doing so are empowered to make decisions on play activities, choice of healthy snacks and improvements they would like made in the Club. An enclosed yard ensures that the children have plenty of opportunities to engage in outdoor sports and games, thus benefiting their physical health, mental health and their well-being
