The direct benefits flowing from purpose 1 “To promote amateur sport and healthy recreation” by encouraging participation in sporting and recreational activities; assisting people to improve their personal sporting standards; facilitating football locally. The direct benefits which flow from this purpose includes improvement in physical and

emotional health and well-being because of participation in football and other recreational football. This includes raised esteem and confidence, improved aerobic capacity and development of physical skills. The direct benefits flowing from Purpose 2 “To facilitate the education of adults and young people by developing their physical, mental and social capacities….” Participants benefit from healthier lifestyles, wellbeing and social inclusion through sport. The direct benefits which flow from this purpose includes improvement in physical and emotional health and well-being as a result of participation in football and other recreational football. The direct benefits flowing from purpose 3 “To advance community development…” to support community development and community action in Portadown. This purpose includes ability of the club to enhance the health and well-being, relationships and capacity of the community to tackle local needs. The direct benefits flowing from purpose 4 “To promote equality, diversity, religious and racial harmony…” The direct benefits are building a peaceful and shared society based on reconciliation and mutual trust. Our purpose will promote good relations by promoting cultural diversity and respect for all cultural identities. The direct benefits flowing from purpose 5 ”To promote such other community initiatives as may from time to time be determined, with the aim of helping those disadvantaged, vulnerable and most in need.” The direct benefits through participation in the sport of Football will tackle social and economic disadvantage using football. Benefits identified are demonstrated through the evaluation of our activities, programmes and services through members meetings, club and AGM meetings and with other stakeholders. This includes gathering feedback via a range of means such as 1-2-1 interviews, group discussions or focus groups, comment cards, surveys and questionnaires around the benefits of activity provided. We also monitor growth in membership, retention into other programmes etc. to further reference the value and impact of our provision and to develop beneficial future services. Our purposes do not give rise to any harm. The beneficiaries of our purposes are those predominantly living in the District Electoral areas of Portadown, Cusher and Craigavon, but also from across a wider catchment in Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council. The private benefit for our members is that they are gaining a healthy lifestyle together with social inclusion across club activity.

What your organisation does

We Are Ports (WAP) is a supporter led community organisation that carries out its purpose by providing liaison between the football club and the supporters club to ensure the members are catered for, to facilitate their enjoyment of attending football matches in the stadium and to provide a social arena where supporters can mix and socialise. WAP

promote community participation in healthy recreation by providing resources for the playing of association football & other activities capable of improving health. WAP support football coaching and training for children and young people from all backgrounds between the ages of 6 and 20 years of age who compete at an amateur level with other teams of the same category throughout Northern Ireland. WAP exists to promote participation in healthy recreation and activities. It does this through the provision of resources to promote participation in healthy recreation and sport such as playing amateur football in teams. WAP activities include: • Promotion of amateur sport and healthy recreation • education of adults and young people by developing their physical, mental and social capacities through participation in organised football and other sporting activities, to promote good citizenship. • advance community development by providing support and facilities to Portadown FC men’s, women’s and youth teams, local sports clubs and other community and voluntary organisations. • promote a range of inclusive and accessible activities which strive to bring together all sections of the community. WAP carry out fundraising activities to promote charitable aims and objectives that are for the benefit of the public generally and, in particular, the inhabitants of Portadown and the surrounding areas to promote community participation in healthy recreation by providing facilities for the playing of association football and other sports.

Charitable purposes

As a community-based organisation, we place local people are at the heart of our objectives. These objectives fall into 3 categories: Sport & Recreation, Education & Training and Community Needs. The Organisations objectives ("Objects") are specifically restricted to the following:- 3.1 To promote amateur sport and healthy recreation by: (a) providing or assisting in the provision of facilities for sport, recreation and other leisure time occupation for such persons who have a need for such facilities by reason of their youth, age, ethnicity, infirmity or disablement or social and economic circumstances or for the public at large in the interests of social welfare and with the object of improving their conditions of life; (b) assisting in the provision of coaching and training opportunities in the playing of football and other sports where relevant. 3.2 To facilitate the education of adults and young people by developing their physical, mental and social capacities through participation in organised football and other sporting activities, to promote good citizenship. 3.3 To advance community development by providing support and facilities to Portadown FC men’s, women’s and youth teams, local sports clubs and other community and voluntary organisations. 3.4 To promote equality, diversity, religious and racial harmony by encouraging participation and integration into a range of inclusive and accessible activities which strive to bring together all sections of the community. 3.5 To promote such other community initiatives as may from time to time be determined, with the aim of helping those disadvantaged, vulnerable and most in need.
