Charitable purposes

The Trustees confirm that The Charity was established by an Act of Parliament in 1789 and was designed to support three objectives, Education, Propagation of the Gospel in the East and Old Farmers/Tradesmen. Those objectives have not changed but have evolved and will continue to evolve to address circumstances at any point in time, by resolution and approval of Trustees at Board Meetings and in accordance with the Act of Parliament. The Trustees confirm the current purposes to be those of: Education of children and young people in giving financial support where need is proven. Supporting the Gospel in the East by offering financial support to those in need through CMSI (Church Mission Society Ireland). Financial support to Newry Hospice, Help the Homeless & Women’s Aid.
