The direct benefits flowing from purpose 1 include: a. Fostering more extensive relationships between the staff, parents and others associated with the school b. Engage in activities which support the school and benefit the pupils attending it c. Promote socio-economic community development activities that benefit those attending the

school, those associated with the Association and the wider community and to promote the benefit of the inhabitants of the district area of Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council Area. The benefits from purpose 1 are demonstrated through income and expenditure through the annual accounts demonstrating the purchase of equipment such as books and tablets for use by the pupils in the advancement of educations. Socio-economic activities can be demonstrated by the various community events organised such as the Christmas Open day, BBQs and participation in the local annual community festival. Fostering of relationships can also be demonstrated through organised events but also the relationships developed between Committee Members and staff within the school evidenced within minuted meetings and the annual Chairpersons report.. What your organisation does

The Friends of Maine is run by a group of volunteer parents and staff to organise social events/fund raising activities that develop and strengthen home - school and community relationships as well as raise funds to purchase educational resources for the children at Maine I.P.S.. We also support the school by providing hospitality at school events

and volunteering for roles in school. We also apply for grant funding to further the purposes of the organisation. Detailed activities are set out within our constitution.

Charitable purposes

1. To advance the education and social skills of the pupils of the school by providing and assisting in the provision of facilities for education at the school, and to further these objects the Association may: a. Foster more extensive relationships between the staff, parents and others associated with the school. b. Engage in activities which support the school and benefit the pupils attending it. c. Promote socio-economic community development activities that benefit those attending the school, those associated with the Association and the wider community and to promote the benefit of the inhabitants of the district area of Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council Area and its environs (hereinafter described as "the area of benefit") without distinction of age, gender, race, political, religious or other opinion, by associating the statutory authorities, voluntary organisations and inhabitants in a common effort to advance education, and to provide facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreation or other leisure time occupation, with the object of improving the conditions of life for the said inhabitants.
