Public benefits
The direct benefits are the provision of preschool education to the children in our community which will help to facilitate successful transition into primary school education, and the inclusion of parents/carers via monthly newsletters, reports and daily conversations and updates. A further direct benefit is the focus on the health and
well-being of the beneficiaries resulting in healthier lifestyles and more informed choices in the areas of nutrition and physical activity and mental well being. The benefits above can be demonstrated by the reports we receive each year from Early Years DENI, the feedback from the parents/carers of children attending the group and the community support, which is evidenced by the number pf applications annually. We also receive visits and feedback from our local health visitor who assess both the environment and the beneficiaries. There is no harm arising from any of the purposes of our playgroup. The beneficiaries are pre-school children aged 0-5 years old from Belcoo and surrounding areas. There is no private benefit.
What your organisation does
We are a local playgroup who aim to educate children in learning through play. We provide safe and appropriate opportunities for children to discover that learning is fun. Play is vital for development for young children and we believe that our playgroup will equip a child the skills to help them develop physically, intellectually, emotionally
and socially. By visiting the local primary school, places of interest, and encouraging family activities we promote and encourage community interaction. We create a safe and disciplined environment for children to learn how to control their own behaviour, feel good about themselves, become independent and responsible. We have annual Early Years DENI inspections to ensure our playgroup is well run and maintains its current high standards. This is a direct benefit to the children and families who attend the playgroup currently and who will do so in the future. The playgroup is run by a voluntary management committee with a chairperson, secretary and treasurer. Committee meets at least once per term and is responsible for ensuring the playgroup complies with its purposes and is properly and responsibly managed for the good of its beneficiaries.
