Public benefits

Q: What are the direct benefits flowing from your organisation's purposes? (1) The direct benefits that flow from purpose number one include a greater knowledge and understanding of their faith traditions for our beneficiaries. Our beneficiaries can engage more with their faith tradition through the increased number of Church services in the Irish

language; greater family and community faith cohesion between different generations through their common worship at Church services. (2) The direct benefits that flow from purpose number two include easy access for the Charity’s beneficiaries to the culture, arts and heritage of their forbearers adding to their sense of identity; opportunities to become knowledgeable and competent in cultural and social skills that will enhance their ability to contribute to the cultural and social life of the community. (3) The direct benefits that flow from purpose number three include a greater understanding and respect for our beneficiaries of their own cultural traditions and those of others. Beneficiaries will develop a capacity to engage with and contribute to diverse cultural traditions that will increase their tolerance for diversity. Participation in intercultural relations will aid beneficiaries’ good citizen skills and contribute to good community relations. (4) Benefits are unknown at this time. Q: How can the benefits identified above be demonstrated? Purpose 1. These benefits are evidenced through feedback from teachers in Irish medium schools, parish Priests and parents involved in the project, and the increased number of Church services in the Irish language. Purpose 2 These benefits are evidenced by the increased number of schools and children availing of our services; by the feedback from parents and teachers. As we are becoming a more formal organisation we will encourage more formal and independent statutory assessment of our programmes in the future. Purpose 3 These benefits will be evidenced by the number of beneficiaries from different racial groups/communities taking part; from feedback from those groups; and from independent evaluation of our services. Purpose 4 Benefits unknown at this time Q: Is there any harm arising from any of the purposes? Purpose 1 There is no harm anticipated from this purpose. Purpose 2 There is the possibility of some occasional harm, e.g. slight sprains, knocks and bruises from dance and drama movement, and arts and crafts work. However this harm is outweighed by the benefit. The possibility of this harm occurring is greatly reduced by our health and safety policies and procedures in place for staff, volunteers and beneficiaries.
