What your organisation does

We exist to provide and promote the advancement of amateur tennis within our local community. We are the only surviving tennis club within the Derry and Strabane Council district, an area that encompasses some of the highest levels of economic deprivation across NI. Our club is open to absolutely everyone, and special reduced rates are available

to anyone who may be financially unable to pay the standard membership rate. Such circumstances are approached sensitively, discreetly, and always with compassion towards our valued members. Inclusion and diversity go to the very heart of our ethos and it should be noted that we have a membership that is made up from a broad range of religious and ethnic background. Such a demographic and geographical diversity creates a unique environment that promotes both the physical benefits of tennis, as well as the social and emotional benefits of it. Our club has brought the benefits of tennis to the local community through various schemes. These have included wheelchair tennis, tennis schemes in local interface areas, summer camps in areas of high economic social deprivation and a continued partnership with various charities including Foyle Down Syndrome. All of these schemes are organised by qualified coaches from our club and operate completely free to ensure that as many people as possible can access our sport and share in its many benefits. The local community has enjoyed many benefits, these include: working with groups who are traditionally under-represented in sport (Women and girls, BAME communities, Ethnic minorities, 50 + age groups); working with young people (to build confidence, develop transferable life and employability skills); building stronger cross community bridges (bringing members together from all different faiths and backgrounds from all parts of the City and District Council area; and bringing tennis to socially deprived areas by making use of available community spaces.
