Public benefits
Purpose 1: Improved relationships between home and school The benefit which flows from this purpose includes funding for additional resources for the school and links built with the local community. This is demonstrated through having an active PTA that works in partnership with the school and engages parental support. This purpose does not lead
to harm. The benefit is for children at Lislagan Primary school. Charity trustees (PTA committee members) are usually also parents at the school which their children attend and hence gain benefit in the same way as all other beneficiaries. This benefit is incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to all beneficiaries. Purpose 2: Advancing the education of pupils in the school The benefit which flows from this purpose includes increased educational progress and attainment of pupils in the school and links built with the local community. This is demonstrated through pupils having access to resources, events, activities and links with the local community which are not available through direct school funding. This purpose does not lead to harm.
What your organisation does
We have been limited this year due to COVID and government restrictions to hold fundraising activities and meetings that would help raise money for the school and develop positive partnership working between parents and the school. We have however been in a position to hold the annual Christmas Hamper Raffle, raising funds for the school. This
was a very successful funding event with local support from a wide range of local businesses. We have been very unfortunate that following the set up of the PTA, COVID outbreak and restrictions followed a month later in March 2020, it is hoped that this year we will be in a better position locally to arrange and hold meetings and fundraising events as we planned last year. We have as a PTA continued to communicate well with the school, supporting any small events that we can.
