Public benefits
The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include increase in social skills, improved emotional well-being, improved educational outcomes and increased spiritual development in the lives of young people. This purpose will also provide engagement and improvements to overall community life. The benefits will be evidenced through a number of
evaluative means including: recordings and observations of staff members; other qualitative data from parents, teachers, and community representative; quantitative data from programme and project evaluations; and data from other sources including other service providers both statutory and non-statutory. There is no identifiable harm to any person through the pursuit of our organisational purpose. The beneficiaries of this purpose are children and young people as defined by Government policy in Northern Ireland, living in Antrim and the surrounding area. A private benefit may be gained by a Committee Member who has a child who uses the facilities and activities of the Youth Club. The child of the Committee Member applies to be part of the Youth Club and is given access in the same way as other beneficiaries. This benefit is incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to our beneficiaries. Volunteers may gain an increased sense of well-being through their involvement in the Youth Club, however this benefit is incidental and necessary to ensure benefit is provided to beneficiaries. Staff may gain opportunities to be involved in educational or recreational activities. This benefit is also incidental and necessary for the work of the organisation to take place.
What your organisation does
St Comgall’s Youth Club carries out its purpose by ensuring young people are put first. We are a young person driven organisation; they are at the forefront of all our decisions. More importantly we actively engage with the members of the club to seek out what it is we can do for them. We develop young people in a personal way by letting them
explore issues that concern them and giving them a safe place to express their opinions through the professionalism of the staff and volunteer team offering their expertise in many different fields. We ensure young people engage with other members of the club, peer groups and society to develop an understanding of respect for all as individuals. Developing and preparing young people to become active members of the community is a goal we believe has the utmost of importance. Educationally we develop young people by learning through experience, challenges, expression and failures. We harness failure as an attempt to learning and challenging the norm. Spiritually we honour the Catholic ethos, which enables young people challenge and develop their beliefs by working with the local priest and other clergy from other religions. This is an ambition of the Youth Club to harness a cross community spirit, for the better of Antrim.
