The public benefits which flow from charitable purposes 1 are: (i)access to a safe and welcoming environment for all men in the Saintfield area, providing a space to engage with other men, learn, share and develop skills, increase confidence, combat isolation and depression and enhance quality of life. (ii)opportunities for men within Saintfield

and surrounding area, to participate in a range of activities with others or individually, increasing skills and knowledge resulting in enhanced quality of life The public benefit which flow from purpose 2 are: (i)reduction in social isolation and increased social networks of men in the Saintfield area by offering opportunities to engage in activities that: - bring people together to socialise and support each other, helping to reduce isolation and depression - facilitate involvement in creative activities - increase self-awareness, confidence and motivation and lead to an enhanced sense of purpose and fulfilment. (ii)A general improvement in health and wellbeing. The public benefits that flow from purpose 3 are: (i)opportunities for skills development, capacity building and learning for men in the Saintfield area. Learning together and sharing learning with the wider community. Men in our group will be using new and existing skills to improve our environment, also creating a group that has a range of skills to assist the wider community The public benefits that flow from purpose 4 are: (i) advancement in health and well being of men in the Saintfield area, improvement of mental and physical health, fitness and well being and greater knowledge of the health support services that are available The benefits can be identified through feedback from the participants, internal and external evaluations of the work and impact questionnaires, the numbers of participants acquiring new skills and taking part in health related programmes, and research findings that confirm the benefits of participating in Men's Sheds activities. No harm arises from any of these purpose. There beneficiaries are men aged from 18 years within Saintfield and surround area There is no private benefit arising from any of the purposes. Private benefit to trustees may arise from our programme of activities as trustees will be eligible to avail of the group’s activities. Through volunteering as trustees, individuals may gain skills and experience which are transferable to other settings. These benefits are incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to our beneficiaries.

What your organisation does

Saintfield Men's Shed provides facilities, amenities, and access to tools and equipment to men aged over 18 who live in and around the Saintfield area. Participants engage in horticulture, making and up-cycling outdoor furniture, inter-generational activities, sharing skills and learning together. Participants take part in training and development

and have an opportunity to socialise, enhance their skills and engage in enjoyable creative and recreational activities including trips and away days. Men involved in the shed have an opportunity to take part in awareness raising sessions on various relevant health issues with a number of community and voluntary sector partners.
