Public benefits
The direct benefits flowing from Ballymacanallen Community Association’s purposes are, through the provision of affordable recreational facilities in an area of deprivation, members of the local community can participate in recreational and leisure-time activities which will improve their general health and well-being. We provide a community hub
that encourages community involvement, providing a wide range of educational and leisure activities to reduce social isolation, improve physical and mental health and to create a cohesive community. The benefits can be identified by numbers attending events, feedback from local community groups, partner agencies, participants in the activities and by internal reports. There is no harm flowing from our purposes. The beneficiaries are the local community in the Ballymacanallen, Gilford and surrounding areas. Some private benefit is obtained by musicians, educational speakers, catering organisations and those organisation providing specialist equipment or services. This private benefit is necessary to the organisation being able to carry out its purposes. There is no private benefit gained by the trustees or the organisation’s members. No membership fee is charged to access the benefits. We do however, sometimes need to charge entrance fees to cover the costs of running some events, such as for the hire of musicians etc. The trustees are mindful that this is an area of deprivation and will therefore strive to keep fees to a minimum. Given the number of low income families attending our events we are satisfied that our fees will not be a barrier to accessing the benefits.
