Public benefits

The purpose of Ballyclare High School Parents, Teachers and Friends Association is to advance the education of pupils within the school in particular by firstly enhancing improved relationships between home and school. The benefit which flows from this purpose includes funding for additional resources for the school by establishing and maintaining

links with the local community. This is demonstrated through having a proactive Association which collaborates with the Ballyclare High Schools' Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and promotes parental engagement. This purpose does not lead to harm. The benefit is for all the pupils of Ballyclare High School. Charity trustees (PTAFA committee members) are invariably parents at the school which their children attend and hence gain benefit in the same way as all other beneficiaries. This benefit is incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to all beneficiaries. A second outcome that flows from the educational purpose is that of advancing the education of pupils within the school. The benefit which flows from this purpose includes increased educational progress and attainment of pupils in the school and links built with the local community. This is demonstrated through pupils having access to resources, events, activities and links with the local community which are not available through direct school funding. This purpose does not lead to harm. The benefit is for pupils at Ballyclare High School. Charity trustees (PTAFA committee members) are usually also parents at the school which their children attend and hence gain benefit in the same way as all other beneficiaries. This benefit is incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to all beneficiaries. Ballyclare High School Parents, Teachers and Friends Association plan and run a wide range of fundraising activities that facilitate the development of positive relationships between pupils, parents, teachers and interested stakeholders in the local community. They also engage in activities that directly enhance the pupils' education. This has been achieved, since the inception of the PTAFA, through a range of fundraising events that have included: a sponsored colour run, bag packs at local supermarket outlets, the re-introduction of an annual Christmas Fair, fashion shows in partnership with local businesses amongst others. The monies raised from these activities have helped to refurbish the school's lecture theatre, provide two filtered water fountains for pupils and one for the staffroom. A major internet safety awareness initiative was sponsored by the fundraising efforts as well as help for various departmental projects. No The pupils and staff of Ballyclare High School No
