In December 2019 we held a musical evening which raised £250 for Womens Aid and which received a very favourable response. In July 2019 we held the first Girona Gold Maritime festival which attracted approx 300 people over the two days and generated 175 response to our survey which the council calculated as: 61.5% from the Causeway Area, 24.5 % from Northern Ireland and 14% from outside NI.100% enjoyed the events with 82% saying they would return to next year's event.Comments included; Great to see Portballintrae come to life!" "Great family event!" In 2017 we held a "Galaxies to Girona " two day science culture and history event. The main talks attracted some 80 people at each event and the cultural music events had a similar number. There is a potential for increased tourism and losing the charm of the local area. However, the area has only one shop and one hotel and therefore does not lend itself to supporting a large influx of visitors. The local community of a small fishing community. The many second homeowners who visit the area in the Summer and the many tourists who visit the "Gold Coast" area. There is no private benefit flowing from these purposes.
What your organisation does

Funds have been raised and given to socially responsible groups in the community to support improvements to health and to strengthen community safety. The group has worked with the council on the Village Improvement Plan and obtained improved seating and lighting for the area.
