Public benefits
The direct benefit which flows from this purpose is the increased level of social inclusion for the members of Carnhill residents & the promotion of volunteering, developing & inspiring civic values & community activities within the Carnhill Area. These benefits are evidenced through increased numbers of residents attending meetings & activities,
increased numbers of volunteers & volunteering opportunities, feedback for volunteers & committee involved with events & training, focus groups & regular evaluation of all work carried out. There is no harm arising from these purposes. The beneficiaries are residents living within and surrounding the Carnhill Area. A private benefit may arise to committee members who may from time to time avail of training programmes in matters such as governance, but this is necessary for professional standards to be maintained to carry out the work of the Carnhill Community Association to ensure the benefit is provided to our beneficiaries.
What your organisation does
Carnhill Community Association is a vibrant volunteer group in the heart of the Carnhill Community Derry, who meet every month to discuss & arrange a wide variety of activities. The activities that we would run are as follows: Tea Dances, Tai Chi, Chair Aerobics, Arts & Crafts, Irish Dancing, Learning how to Crochet, Jewellery-making, Complimentary
Therapies, Health Talks, Fun Bingo, Cooking on a budget, & anything else that the residents want to try that we can accommodate. We also do Volunteer training ( H&S, Fire prevention, 1st aid, CPR, COSHH etc.) We pride ourselves on offering a vital service to our local community & enabling residents (who would otherwise would be socially isolated) to try new things in a safe & supportive environment. We have delivered many successful programmes with the aid of funders such as the Derry City & Strabane District grant aid funding, which addresses the needs of the residents in our local area. We are also familiar with monitoring, evaluation & reporting procedures i.e. pre & post evaluations, registers, photographs etc.
