Buildings of historic, environmental, architectural or constructional merit or interest are preserved for the benefit of the general public. Once restored buildings are either sold and the proceeds used to purchase further buildings or in appropriate cases buildings are retained and rented to the general public. There is no harm The general public are the beneficiaries The incidental private benefit is for those tenants who live in renovated and restored historic buildings have the pleasure of enjoying living in such buildings. It is important for buildings to be occupied and kept in use to ensure they remain in good order.
