Public benefits
(1) The public benefits that flow from purpose (a) are: (i) enhanced quality of life and sense of well-being through engagement with and participation in creative artistic events and activities; (ii) renewed enthusiasm for and belief in the arts as a means of expression and fulfilment; (iii) improved social cohesion and community life through
collective involvement in enriching arts events; (iv) improved self-esteem, self-confidence and sense of achievement among participants; (v) enhanced exposure to different forms of creativity; (vi) providing young people, particularly those in disadvantaged areas, with attractive alternatives to anti-social and risk taking behaviours. (2) The public benefits that flow from purpose (b) are: (i) increased opportunities for the public to access the arts as a result of an extended range of arts and cultural activities and events taking place; (ii) raised awareness, understanding, appreciation and enjoyment of the arts by the public; (iii) increased opportunities for emerging artists to develop their professional artistic practice. (3) The public benefits that flow from purpose (c) are: (i) improved understanding and appreciation of shared cultural interests across different communities and age groups facilitated by inclusive events at affordable prices; (ii) increased opportunities to engage in new activities that bring people together; (iii) enhanced inclusion and access to cultural experiences, particularly among marginalised groups in society. These benefits can be evidenced through data on the numbers of, and feedback from, people attending or participating in activities, events and performances; internal and external evaluations of the work and impact of EastSide Arts; and Arts Council and other surveys of attitudes to and the beneficial effects of exposure to culture. What your organisation does
EastSide Arts makes east Belfast a better place for residents and visitors by celebrating the history and heritage of the area, nurturing creativity, being open and inclusive and delivering excellent programmes and events. We deliver 2 annual arts festivals, various community arts events, support artists and engage with local communities.
