Public benefits

The benefits include improved community capacity via volunteer development and community-led activities/services; reduction in social isolation; improvement in health & well-being; positive environmental changes in the area. The benefits above can be demonstrated through the development of the Hillhall area. Volunteers have undertaken a range of

community capacity building training courses over the years, providing them with the confidence & skills to support local development and activities for the area. We listen to residents, and support them by providing/lobbying for the services they ask. Our volunteers have worked with agencies to regenerate the area via our community facility (previously derelict houses), environmental improvements where there has been waste ground etc. More residents continue to volunteer with us year on year, learning new skills, developing pride and a greater sense of community ownership in the area. We have & continue to complete community surveys which help to identify need and support what we a group deliver. We also get feedback from public consultation/meetings, from those attending our regular activities. from evaluation forms and those calling into the office. There is no harm arising from any of the purposes. The beneficiaries are residents from within the Hillhall area. Our volunteers have undertaken a range of capacity building training courses over the years - first aid, child protection, conflict resolution, fire safety, youth work etc. Volunteers require such training to enable them to run our group's activities. The private benefit of this, is that volunteers can use what they have learnt for their own personal development. This is an incidental and necessary benefit.

What your organisation does

Our group leases a facility from the Council from which we provide a range of services & activities for the local community. We run an after school club for primary & secondary school children; youth club (5-25 years); senior citizens group; women's group; drop-in advice (housing, benefits etc.). We work with statutory agencies, voluntary and

community organisations. Our volunteers undertake capacity building training as/when required. We also have a Facebook page to provide information and share details of our activities etc.
