Benefits that Flow from the purpose: 1. The improvement of social and community regeneration by encouraging people to become active in a voluntary capacity and increase community participation through provision of socialising opportunities for the inhabitants of area of benefit thus helping reduction in social isolation in our rural community and
enhanced community spirit and relations. 2. Educational: the development of resident’s knowledge, skills and self-confidence through providing a range of educational opportunities, I.E. First aid, Mental health courses, befriending training, musical skills, I-Pad training, and sports skills. The benefits can be evidenced through records kept by the Association, evaluations of its work and its impact, the findings of surveys, feedback from participants, post evaluation forms, records of certificates received by members and by the level of uptake of our activities. No known harm has been caused by the Associations purposes or its activities which has been evidenced through continuous feedback from participants. The beneficiaries are; The inhabitants of the Ballyaughlis, Ballylesson, Drumbo and Purdysburn area and its environs without distinction of age, sex, race, political, religious or other opinion. Trustees may gain training and experience in community development and enhance their skills in areas such as event management, first aid, health and safety, food hygiene and ICT skills. They may also attend education courses that are provided at a local level through local council events. Through this training, trustees gain skills and expertise which are transferable to other settings These benefits are incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to our beneficiaries.
What your organisation does
The Poundbridge & District Community Association has been developing their community by providing, training courses, events for all the family, a base for sporting club and encouraging use of the facilities to a greater level. Participation in Lisburn and Castlereagh City Council funded schemes has assisted in the progress of the association, which
have included Community Festivals, Community grant aid and more recent the Good relations scheme. This has increased involvement of the local community and increased use of our facilities. The major event this past 2 years of the Classic Car & Tractor run has attracted in access of 600 persons at our hall. This has helped bring direct benefits to our association including the funding of a Counselling/ Wellbeing room by the Big Lottery fund that will provide the basis of increased courses and facilities in 2020. We continually have invested in our facilities making sure that they are welcoming, accessible and technologically advanced through grants from RCN, Big Lottery and Small capital grants in partnership with other users of the hall.
