Public benefits

The trustees and management committee believe that Paisley Park Sportsplex provides a public benefit in a number of ways and most obviously through its efforts to promote the Advancement of Amateur Sport to the wider public and adjacent communities in North and West Belfast and beyond. The Sportsplex’s key purpose is the promotion of

participation in sports and recreation activities by providing a multi-purpose sporting facility and other resources and amenities in Paisley Park. The member clubs use the Club's facilities for the purposes of advancing their particular sport or game and by promoting health through physical movement and exertion. The direct benefits that flow from these purposes of advancement of Amateur sport, are improved fitness, physical and mental health and ability in that particular sport. These benefits can be demonstrated through feedback from users of the clubs, and by the clubs’ and individuals’ performance in competitive events. The direct benefits that flow from advancing Community Development and Regeneration are improved community life and greater social cohesion between communities through sports and recreation facilities being maintained so that they can be used by all communities and cross-community groups. This can be evidenced by the number of events, and cross section of participants, as well as the financial investment on site. The direct benefit which flows from advancing reconciliation and promoting religious and racial harmony equality and diversity, includes promotion of social inclusion and awareness of different cultures and communities. This can be evidenced by the amount of cross-community participation at Paisley Park. All users of the clubs are amateur and the facilities are available to all members. Club Membership is available to the public. The Sportsplex is established to particularly benefit the whole of North and West Belfast, with no restrictions on any individuals being able to avail of the use of the facility. The Club's beneficiaries are the general public. There are no private beneficiaries of the organisations.

What your organisation does

Paisley Park Sportsplex as an organisation sets out to help get people active by promoting participation in sports and recreation activities. We achieve this through managing an integrated multi-sport complex, with facilities for junior boys and girls soccer academy, youth and senior league soccer, outdoor green bowling, amateur boxing for boys and

girls, and track running. The different sports are organised through individually managed and financed Member Clubs on site, (Albert Foundry Junior Football Academy, Albert Foundry Football Club, Cairn Lodge Boxing Club, Albert Foundry Bowling Club, Albertville Harriers) all of which are affiliated to the appropriate regional governing body. Paisley Park Sportsplex advances community development and regeneration in its area of benefit by promoting co-operation and joint activities between its member sports clubs, and other neighbouring or interested community, voluntary and statutory organizations. We achieve this through our member clubs developing regular activities, cross community competitions and special events on site, whilst pursuing financial investment for continual upgrade to the facilities. Paisley Park Sportsplex advances reconciliation and promotes religious and racial harmony equality and diversity, and social integration and cohesion for the benefit of the general public, particularly young adults and children in the area of benefit. We achieve this through encouraging and enabling our member clubs participation in cross community leagues and competitions, organised ‘open’ and ‘invitational’ training sessions, and specific targeted programs and special events which take place onsite and at ‘away’ venues, throughout the year as appropriate for the particular sport.
