Public benefits

The direct benefits which flow from prevention and relief of poverty in Uganda are shelter, food, opportunity to farm a little land and improved health. The direct benefits which flow from the advancement of education are improved prospects for employment. The direct benefits which flow from the advancement of religion are good moral values and

encourages a sense of community. Benefits are demonstrated through seeing families living in brick houses; improved nutrition for all; growing of crops and caring for animals. Advancement of education is also demonstrated by recording the number of children attending nursery, primary and secondary school and by measuring their academic progress. Religion advancement also brings a strong community spirit where Ugandans develop care for others particularly those on the periphery of the community. It gives hope to poor families. Benefits are also seen by visiting teams from Northern Ireland where assessments are carried out. Other charities in the area recognise the work done in the area. Teams of volunteers who visit Uganda are at risk of developing infectious diseases. The risk is minimised by making use of all vaccinations and preventive measures. Any risk is outweighed by the advantage of seeing the project on the ground. The charity's beneficiaries are the families who live in the housing provided and also families in the local community. Those in the housing and others in the local community are helped with animal projects. The whole area benefits due to improved education, better health and nutrition and community projects. Private benefit: Team members who have visited Uganda all say it has had a very positive impact on their lives.
