What your organisation does
The NEST provides specialist education to young people with a wide range of additional needs. It is an independent special school, staffed by specialist teachers, classroom assistants, Speech and Language Therapists, Equine Therapists and Behavioural Therapists who develop and provide individual programmes to support children and young people's
social and emotional development, communication and learning. We use a range of assessment, teaching and intervention strategies to develop plans and devise individual strategies and supports in order for children to develop holistically and feel a sense of achievement. We provide a caring nurturing environment where pupils can make progress, be safe and learn happily while learning skills, and social and emotional resilience to support their future development. We also support parents and carers of children with learning difficulties through parenting programmes, and support for social/emotional or mental health problems. We provide group supports such as summer schemes and youth groups for children with special needs, and staff/parent training sessions to empower adults to support children with complex needs.
