What your organisation does

Feis Dhoire Cholmcille is an annual Feis that commences each year from Tuesday of Easter week and runs to the Friday inclusive. It provides a platform for children between the ages of 4yrs to 18yrs from Music, Drama, Primary, Post-Primary and Grammar schools to showcase their talents by taking part in competitions in their chosen field of Drama,

Music, Instrumental, Irish Language and Irish Dancing. The Feis committee provides a syllabus detailing competitions and set pieces in December of each year. During the Feis children compete in competitions that are judged by professionals and organized by a group of volunteers. The children compete for prizes of medals, cups, certificates or bursaries which celebrate their success in competing within each of their chosen disciplines. Feis Dhoire Cholmcille encourages the continued education and interest in culture and arts and in particular the respective disciplines of Irish Language, Classical Music, Traditional Music, Singing, Speech and Drama, History and Irish Dancing. At the annual Feis each participating competitor or group benefits from an adjudication of their performance from a professionally trained adjudicator which is intended to encourage, train and develop their abilities in their chosen discipline. They gain a deeper appreciation of their repertoire and of the work and performance of others during their participation. These performances are witnessed by an audience usually family and friends who get the benefit of seeing a performance and hearing an adjudication.
