Public benefits

The direct benefits that flow from the Fly-Aways are that the conditions of the life for carers living within the border counties of Fermanagh, Cavan and Monaghan are improved through the collective work undertaken by our members to address the health, educational, social and recreational needs of these carers. The group work with their members

and other local groups from all three counties to raise awareness of the needs and experiences of unpaid carers and the benefits flowing from this include increased support from other organisations to hold activities and delivery of service. The benefit is also for any carer to join with other carers in a likewise situation and whom are very understanding of each other and whom are getting time away from a heavy caring role. Some of these carers living in very remote parts of each of these counties and whom don’t get a chance to meet with people in a likewise situation. The benefits of the association activities are evidenced by measurement of numbers attending activities and feedback from participants. There is no harm flowing from the purposes of The Fly-Aways. The beneficiaries of the association are unpaid carers who live in Counties Fermanagh, Cavan and Monaghan. The only private benefit flowing from the association purposes are that The Fly-Aways Trustees can participate in all activities and this is incidental and necessary to ensure that all eligible members of the community can potentially avail of these and benefit.

What your organisation does

The Fly-Aways group was formed to support women carers of children and adults with learning difficulties, or to any unpaid carer with a heavy burden committed to improving their Holistic Well-being and continued Personal Development with the primary aim to improve the quality of life of women carers in Counties Fermanagh, Cavan and Monaghan, so

that through their improved holistic well-being a positive impact will filter throughout the whole family environment. The Group host monthly activities, meeting either in Cavan or Fermanagh, of social, personal development, health and well-being, activities with the aim of providing invaluable “Time-Out” for carers away from their often very stressful caring role and to meet with likeminded women whom share the same heavy burden.
