Public benefits
The benefits include reducing social isolation, improved health and well-being, and enhancing the look of the area environmentally, engaging with seniors and children in the rural area and raising the profile of the area. The benefits can be demonstrated through the recent community surveys completed in the area to identify the needs. Following
the survey we have been able to develop a number of community based programmes . We have several different events over the years which targeted all ages within the community including seniors Christmas dinners, flower arranging and craft courses, Children’s Christmas parties and summer fun days. Our volunteers have also attended a number of inter-agency meetings, and we have a very active gardening team who cut grass, trim hedges and keep the local area looking neat and tidy . Community feedback has been positive with new volunteers helping to continuing to develop the local area in order to make it a nicer and more social place to live. There is no harm arising from the purposes. The beneficiaries are residents from within the Craigywarren area. The private benefit flowing from our purpose is that our volunteers have been provided with training which will enable them to organise, plan and deliver programmes within our community. The benefits would be that the volunteers will receive certificates which may help them in their own personal development. This is an incidental benefit.
What your organisation does
The Community group completes a number of programmes to fulfil the purpose of the community association. As a rurally isolated area we provide support to the community by delivering projects such as exploring mental health, facilitating annual Senior Citizens Christmas dinner, environmental projects, seasonal community events and our group works
closely with statutory, voluntary and community agencies.
