Public benefits

The direct benefits which flow from the purpose include improving cardiovascular fitness, strength and flexibility levels through regular training; improving ability and confidence through achievement of higher grade belts; improving social skills through attendance at training events and participation in amateur karate competitions; instilling

courtesy, respect and consideration through participation in a disciplined martial art; learning the art of self-defence without weapons. These benefits are demonstrated through the progression of students through a series of grading classes and awards of higher grade belts; participation in, and successes at, amateur karate competitions; building relationships with other karate clubs at joint training events. The charity’s beneficiaries are children and adults within the Northern Ireland area. The only private benefit flowing from this purpose is that the instructors, through training students, can enhance their own progression towards higher Dan black belts. This benefit is incidental but necessary as the students require instructors who continually improve their own performance, and in doing so ensure that the training provided is to a high standard.
