Public benefits
The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include: improved knowledge and education that arises from the provision of information to the public which will increase understanding of local history, culture and the background of the region in and around Aughnacloy and its environs. The charity’s activities bring about improved health and
well-being and social outcomes through local provision in the community, and reduced levels of social isolation, stress and anxiety, through the promotion of culture, arts, and heritage, and a local focal point for the community to meet. These benefits are demonstrated through feedback from beneficiaries and attendees at our meetings, events, classes, social, historical and cultural activities using: evaluation forms, surveys, verbal feedback, and evaluation of our activities. In providing the charity’s activities for the community benefit there is no possibility of harm out weighing the benefit - there is no harm arising from any of the purposes. The charity’s beneficiaries are primarily the inhabitants of the Aughnacloy area and the surrounding environs. A private benefit to Trustees may arise from our ongoing services and programmes of arts, history, cultural, educational, leisure and recreational activities: information, archives, training, events, and networking visits. Through this, Trustees gain services, cultural awareness, leisure activities, information, skills, and experience which are transferable to other settings, and which may benefit their own community group or area. Our own Trustees receive information, services and activities in the same way as other beneficiaries, and are assigned support, information and services in the same ways as other beneficiaries. These benefits are incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to our beneficiaries.
What your organisation does
Aughnacloy Historical Society is established to promote the benefit of the inhabitants of the Aughnacloy area and its environs through advancement of the arts, culture, and heritage; and by encouraging and increasing access to and participation in arts, crafts and cultural activities. This is mainly delivered through establishing a Society Archive
and carrying out research and publishing papers on the culture, history, folklore, archaeology and antiquities of the region, and organising training, events, meetings, classes and activities open to all the community.
