What your organisation does
1. The organisation provides a forum for parents and staff to meet outside of the normal school environment to discuss further and alternative ideas that will provide an enhanced learning environment for all children 2. Within this organisation, we can take into consideration projects and funding for areas that are not provided for in the
current school budget that will both benefit the children's educational needs but also support staff 3 As the children attending the school have a wide range of disabilities, primarily sight and hearing loss, it it is important that they have access to resources that are suitable and practical for their needs 4 We strive to plan, manage and implement resources and activities that will promote healthy living and minds for the children of Jordanstown School. This is really important to continue with as the children already have an enormous amount of physical and emotional stress to deal with on a daily basis 5 We have made staff aware that they can apply in writing for additional funding for teaching aids that they feel would benefit the children that are not currently covered by the school budget. 6 Due to ongoing school budget constraints, funding for extra-curricular activities is extremely limited. For the children in Jordanstown school, extra-curricular activities are important as many of them would not get the opportunity to participate in such activities outside of school due to their disabilities and lack of such activities available in the local community 7 To financially support all the above activities, the group organise all the fundraising activities. We try to deliver at least one main fundraiser per year with smaller activities throughout the year when the opportunities present 8 Incorporated with the main fundraising event is the emphasis for the whole school and wider community to get involved. This allows extended family and friends to see what we do.
