THE DIRECT BENEFITS FLOWING FROM THE PURPOSES INCLUDE THE PHYSICAL HEALTH BENEFITS OF TAKING PART IN SPORT AND EXERCISE, NAMELY REDUCED STRESS AND ANXIETY, SOCIAL BENEFITS OF BEING A MEMBER OF A TEAM, SOCIAL INTERACTION FOR THE ISOLATED OR LONELY AND HELPING PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES. THE BENEFITS CAN BE DEMONSTRATED THROUGH FEEDBACK FROM MEMBERS

AND PARTICIPANTS AND ARE MONITORED BY THE COMMITTEE. THERE IS NO HARM ARISING FROM ANY OF THE PURPOSES THE MAIN BENEFICIARIES ARE THOSE WHO ATTEND THE CLUB INCLUDING THE PEOPLE OF PORTGLENONE, SURROUNDING AREA AND GENERAL PUBLIC WITHIN A CROSS COMMUNITY ENVIRONMENT. THERE IS NO PRIVATE BENEFIT. INCIDENTAL OR NECESSARY; FOR EXAMPLE MEMBERS OF OUR MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE COULD BENEFIT FROM GAINING SKILLS IN HELPING TO RUN SOCIAL SPORTS CENTRES OR HOLDING OFFICE BUT THIS IS CLEARLY NECESSARY IN ORDER TO PROVIDE THE BENEFITS.

Charitable purposes

The Association is established to relieve poverty, sickness and the aged and to promote the benefit of the inhabitants of the Portglenone area senior citizens hereinafter called the "area of benefit" without distinction of age, gender, sexuality, nationality, ethnic origin, political or religious opinion, by associating the statutory authorities, voluntary organisation and the inhabitants in a common effort to advance education and to provide facilites in the interests of social welfare for recreation or other leisure-time occupation, with the object of improving the conditions of life for the said inhabitants and in particular; To maintain and manage or co-operate with any local authority in the maintenance of a centre at Portglenone Community Centre for activities promoted by the association (hereinafter called "the Centre") In furtherance of the above objects, but not further or otherwise, the association may; - provide or secure the provision of educational and recreational facilities and practical assistance for elderly people within the area of benefit - provide or secure the provision of welfare rights advice and information and refer those in need of professional assistance to the relevant agencies - promote and organise co-operation in the achievement of the above objects and to that end to work in association with local authorities and voluntary organisations engaged in the furtherance of the above objects in the area of benefit - establish or support any charitable trusts, associations or institutions formed for all or any of the above objects - do all such other lawful things as may be necessary for the attainment of the above objects or any of them
