First Cast N.I.works with young people in particular, as well as families and others, who have experienced degrees of vulnerability or social exclusion, with a view to building healthy and lasting friendships, self-reliance and self-confidence through the medium of fishing. In using the terms vulnerability and social exclusion, we include people affected by : Low self esteem, Addiction, Social exclusion by economic, educational or other disadvantage, Poor mental health and Family breakdown/crisis, sections of the community which are under-represented in the sport of fishing, including young people, women and vulnerable adults. This list is not exclusive and First Cast N. I. may assist others, not specifically mentioned above, upon resolution of the Committee. The Committee may also decide to work with groups where social, political or religious division acts as a hindrance to the development of healthy relationships. Fees and expenses are paid to professional instructors and coaches out of grants from government and other bodies. This expenditure is both necessary and incidental. The organisation's own funds are used for administration purposes.
