Public benefits

The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include relief of poverty from improved access to local service providers, improved education from improved access to free education programs and improved well being of local community through the provision of free recreational activities. These benefits are demonstrated through consulting with our

members monthly to ascertain how the needs of the local community have been met. We do this through evaluating ideas and comments provided from the community through our social media site, discussions with the residents at our events and general discussion at members meetings. The purpose of our charity may lead to some duplication of services, however we will ensure that this harm is outweighed by the benefits through discussion and consultation with the local community, other community organisations and service providers. The charity’s beneficiaries are the local community of Belvoir and Milltown and the surrounding areas. The only private benefit flowing from our purpose is that some of the volunteers or trustees may participate in training programs, this is incidental and is necessary to ensure the trustees/ volunteers are maintaining good practice within the group.

What your organisation does

On a daily basis we deal with issues affecting the residents of Belvoir estate and contact the relevant statutory agencies to deal with these issues such as Belfast City Council, Northern Ireland Housing Executive and PSNI. We also act as a contact to our local elected representitives. We run a community allotments all year round and work to bring

free training and education programs, run free programs and events for the youth, the elderly and families and, help and support the community with any issues they may have. Belvoir Area Residents Group work to relieve poverty by bringing free training opportunities and job skills courses to unemployed, or low hours workers in the Belvoir area , with the aim of getting people back to work or into a better jobs. We also have many events throughout the year that we don’t charge for, as charging even £1 can exclude some children from being able to come. We would never want a child to be left out over £1 so we provide everything, including a meal, for free as we know all children can then attend.
