Public benefits
The direct benefits which flow from our organisations purpose include improved educational outcomes, increased cultural knowledge, increase in social skills, improvement in emotional health and well-being and increased spiritual development in the lives of children, young people and adults across the city of Derry. New formed friendships and bonds
is another direct benefit that will last for a long time to come. These benefits are demonstrated through regular monitoring and evaluation form for each of our funding bodies. Also from attitudinal surveys and baseline information from our beneficiaries, feedback from beneficiary evaluation forms and statistics from relevant community, voluntary and statutory bodies. There is no harm to any person through the pursuit of the above organisational purpose. The beneficiaries of this charity will be children, young people and adults from various areas across the city of Derry. Positive outcomes will have a ripple effect and additional family and friends of Oxford United Stars will also benefit from new formed bonds and friendships. A private benefit is that gained by a trustee who may avail of the services offered by Oxford United Stars. The benefit is incidental as trustees are members of the community. Trustees may also gain skills, experience and an increased sense of well- being through their role as trustee. The wider community will benefit from positive contribution made by children, young people and adults as a result of their participation and engagement with Oxford United Stars. The benefit is incidental and necessary for successful work of the organisation to take place.
What your organisation does
Oxford United Stars Football Club are a community football club who has provided a footballing service to the people of Derry and often the wider north-west of Ireland for over 60 years, Year on year this club has developed to become much more than a footballing service to our players and the wider communities in which we operate. As a citywide
club the work our club now does in many communities throughout Derry goes far beyond sport as we provide a positive alternative to anti-social behaviour through physical activities including sport and gym based fitness classes in many of the communities within Derry, We currently cater for over 300 members city wide throughout Derry. Our club is fully inclusive of all religions, ethnics and abilities. Through our work to ensure that each member’s circumstances, sexuality and religious beliefs are respected we have continuously educated our clubs players to operate with an inclusive, open mind within the world.
