Public benefits

The direct benefit which flows from this purpose includes the advancement of education by promoting understanding, accessibility and enjoyment of members of the public generally in relation to the history of the Police Force by managing a Museum which collects, loans and preserves articles associated with Police history, carrying out research into

the history of policing in Ireland, recording and gathering information and artefacts, publishing a newsletter and delivering educational talks in Northern Ireland. Benefits are identified through feedback from members of the public who visit the Museum, serving officers who receive educational talks and serving and retired police officers who contribute to the Museum. This purpose does not give rise to any harm. The beneficiaries of this purpose are people living in Northern Ireland and international visitors. A private benefit to trustees may arise from our programme of ongoing training in good governance, finance etc. through this training trustees gain skills and experience which are transferable to other settings. These skills are incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to the beneficiaries.
