Public benefits

The direct benefits which flow from our purpose include reduced stress and anxiety levels and improved mood amongst young adults living with cancer. Benefits will be in the form of financial reprieve thus a benefit which flows from the purpose is increased autonomy in how young adults living with cancer can spend their time. Another benefit then is

improvement in the quality of time spent with friends and family. These benefits are demonstrated through the feedback questionnaires participants complete upon redeeming their discount/experience. They are also evidenced through letters of appreciation and photographs received from participants. Families of beneficiaries undertaking fundraising and contributing to the furthering of the charity’s purpose is further evidence of these benefits. No harm is foreseen in the carrying out of these purposes as beneficiaries voluntarily engage in activities and undertake decisions about when to do so independently from the charity. The charity’s beneficiaries are young adults aged 18-35 years living in Northern Ireland. One private benefit flowing from this purpose is the inclusion of family members and/or friends in the activity. However this benefit is incidental and necessary because quality time and memorable occasions occur best when made with others. A further private benefit exists to those companies and businesses who are enlisted to provide services to the beneficiaries e.g. hotels, outdoor activity centres, etc. This benefit is also incidental and necessary as the use of such facilities is necessary in the achievement of the purpose and the investment made is reasonable.
