Public benefits
The direct benefits flowing from purpose (i) include involving the general public in their local environment through consultations, workshops, talks and discussion groups, and that they will feel well equipped and empowered to participate in activities and actions to help enhance their environment, and engage with local decision makers, submitting
proposals, gaining knowledge and supporting local events and trade. The direct benefits flowing from purposes (ii, v, vii, viii, and ix) include a more engaged public who are more aware of and have a greater understanding of the physical and built environment, preservation and environmental protection, architecture, historical features and places of interest in the Town, which in turn provides an improved sense of place and also the protection of the character and fabric of the town. The direct benefits flowing from purpose (iii) will be the long awaited regeneration of Queens Parade and the seafront areas of Bangor Town Centre to become a vibrate and recognised destination for locals and visitors to the town, bringing increased economic development and a driver for job and wealth creation. The direct benefits flowing from purpose (iv) include individuals from Bangor and surrounding districts gaining greater knowledge, education and awareness of the town, its geography, history and architectural nature, which will inspire interest and involvement. They will also benefit from learning about famous local people and places, from debate and discussion about the past, present and future, and by extension, to their families and friends. The direct benefits flowing from purpose (vi) include improving the attractiveness and image of Bangor and providing a key product which will contribute towards tourism development for the area. It will also increase individual participation in this sector across a range of social groups and ages, address issues related to social inclusion, and improve health and well-being outcomes. The benefits from purpose (i) are demonstrated through attendance levels at the various Fabb events, ranging from walking tours, coffee evenings and workshops, and contribution to the Fabb facebook. The benefits from purpose (ii, v, vii, viii, and ix) can be evidenced through public support for the reuse of historic buildings, and increased levels of public engagement on such issues. The benefits from purpose (iii) are demonstrated through progress on the Queens Parade project, and Fabb’s involvement at every stage of the project. The benefits from purpose (iv) are demonstrated by the volume and attendance at activities associated with the town’s make-up and history, leading to increased levels of interest in change programmes and public consultations. The benefits from purpose (vi) are demonstrated through the measurement of arts and cultural events held in the town and collation of data on number of organisations, activities, attendance and participation. There is no harm arising from any of the purposes. The general public of Bangor and its surrounds, the commercial businesses in the town, the tourist industry of the town and its surrounds, the entertainment industry, including cultural and art organisations and individuals. There is no private benefit flowing from any of our purposes.
What your organisation does
For A Better Bangor is a residents' lobby group, formed in 2009, as a reaction to the proposed redevelopment of Queen's Parade in Bangor, Northern Ireland. Its aim is to encourage the redevelopment of Queens Parade, the seafront and the town centre of Bangor in such a way as to enhance and complement the character of Bangor. Fabb furthers its
purposes through involvement with the general public and engaging with statutory government organisations on matters of interest to Bangor town centre, through organising public meetings, workshops, walking tours, questionnaires, facebook discussions, and providing reports, materials and research, both in printed format and on its webpage.

Charitable purposes
The Company is established for the public benefit for the following purposes in the area comprising of Bangor and North County Down and the surrounding environment which area shall herein after be referred to as “the area of benefit”.The objects of the Company are restricted to: (i) The advancement of citizenship and community development. (ii) To promote high standards of planning and architecture in or affecting the area of benefit. (iii) In particular to encourage the development of Queens Parade, the Bangor Seafront and the town centre of Bangor in such a way as to enhance and compliment the character of Bangor as a seaside resort with its own distinctive character. (iv) To educate the public in the geography, history, natural history and architecture of the area of benefit. (v) To secure the preservation protection development and improvement of features of historic or pubic interest in the area of benefit. (vi) To advance the arts, culture and heritage in the area of benefit. (vii) To advance environmental protection and improvement in the area of benefit. (viii) To advance education on architecture and the environment and history in the area of benefit. (ix) To encourage appreciation and protection of the Victorian and Edwardian buildings and character in the Bangor area of benefit.
