Public benefits

The purposes of Welcome Community Group are: (a) to relieve poverty, sickness and the aged The direct benefits flowing from this purpose include improved access to advice and information regarding statutory bodies for financial help and local housing issues, an enhanced quality of life, sense of self worth and improved physical and mental

wellbeing and a sense of belonging to the community in which older people live. (b) to promote the benefit of the inhabitants The direct benefits flowing from this purpose include the encouraging and promotion of public awareness of the needs of those in the local community, improved interaction between statutory bodies, voluntary organisations and the community with a result of improving peoples’ conditions of life. (c) to advance education The direct benefits flowing from this purpose include a greater awareness of IT facilities and their use especially for older people, improved educational outcomes for young people through, for example, homework assistance in a safe and friendly environment . (d) to advance religion The direct benefits flowing from this purpose include improved ethics and morals, leading to societal change amongst the local community. (e) to provide facilities in the interests of social welfare, for recreation or other leisure time occupation with the object of improving the conditions of life for the said inhabitants The direct benefits flowing from this purpose include improved access to community resources and facilities such as the brand new community centre (completed in August 2016) which is located in an interface area and assists with community interactions, particularly amongst young people learn how to interact and play together in a safe and friendly environment. A further benefit is gained by persons affected by autism and other conditions who access the centre’s Sensory Room. The above benefits can variously be demonstrated through weekly attendances of young people, volunteer leaders, senior citizens, sensory room users, the community and other charitable groups use as well as the verbal feedback of parents and groups using the centre (which is always good) and short questionnaires seeking feedback regarding the facilities. Is there any harm arising from any of the purposes? There is no known harm that can arise from any of our purposes; the charity ensures that there is always supervision on hand. Who are the charity's beneficiaries? The charities beneficiaries are the local community. Is there any private benefit flowing from any of the purposes? Is it incidental and necessary? There is no private benefit gained by any unintended beneficiary through the purposes.

What your organisation does

We offer youth club facilities for ages 5-16 year old. We also run events for Senior Citizens i.e. coffee morning and tea dance. We are also open to other charities for the purposes of meetings e.g. Marie Curie and McMillan and whoever wants to avail of the services. We also cater for children with Autism and ADHD in our new Sensory Room.

Charitable purposes

The Charity’s objects (‘the Objects’) are to relieve poverty, sickness and the aged and to promote the benefit of the inhabitants of North Belfast and district area of Co Antrim and it environs (hereinafter described as “the area of benefit”), by associating the statutory authorities, voluntary organisations and inhabitants in a common effort to advance education and religion, and to provide facilities in the interests of social welfare, for recreation or other leisure time occupation with the object of improving the conditions of life for the said inhabitants.
