What your organisation does
The units in our district forward their charitable donations collected at their various meetings and events together with relevant paperwork. This data is all collated, recorded and filed in date sensitive periods available for inspection or verification. Members may specify which charity their donation is allocated to when making donations and
will be enhanced with Gift Aid where appropriate. All other unallocated donations will be allocated by the Charity Fund ensuring each fund is supported with a deserving section which will be enhanced with Gift Aid where appropriate. From the collated records, periodically an accurately documented claim will be submitted to HMRC. The ensuing repayment of Taxes will be apportioned by using the formulae for allocated and unallocated donations to determine the beneficiary of these funds. The Treasurer will periodically transfer the funds accordingly. The Charity Fund hold fund raising events, for example Church Services, Family Carol Services and BBQ's etc. We support units who organise and promote fund raising events for the benefit of Masonic and other non-Masonic Charities. We offer advice and support to our unit representatives on the completion of application forms, visiting applicants, how to identify need, offer best support and best practice on support generally. Guest speakers attend meetings and workshops to give updates on current legislation and information on Masonic Charities, Charities, Social Benefits and general advice or assistance thereon.
