Public benefits

The direct benefits which flow from the purposes include an understanding of the research techniques and the resources available appropriate to the research of family history, genealogy, heraldry and local history in the context of the North of Ireland. These benefits are evidenced through the attendances at talks and visits at various locations in

the north of Ireland, the contacts made with the general public at exhibitions where contact with the general public is promoted, the visits to the Research Centre open to the public, the production of transcriptions of source material, the look-up service used by off-site enquirers, the contributions published in the Society's journal "North Irish Roots", and the engagement by the public with the various social media channels used by the Society and its Branches. There is no harm identified as arising from this purpose. The charities beneficiaries are the general Public. Private benefit may arise by beneficiaries pursuing further research after contact with this Society - possibly using online commercial genealogy resources and/or professional genealogy researchers. This benefit is incidental.
