Public benefits
The benefit that flows from the purposes of the organisation is the promotion of physical and mental wellbeing of young people in the greater Belfast area by encouraging their participation in the sport of rugby union. The physical fitness of participants will be improved by regular training and the playing of matches. This will also help develop
self discipline and organisational skills. Involvement with a team based sport will help young people build relationships and demonstrate the benefits of working together to achieve a common objective. Participation in competitive matches will help players acquire experience in dealing with the triumph of winning and the disappointment of losing in a controlled environment. Players will see their self confidence and self esteem grow whilst they develop a strong ethos of fair play and good sportsmanship. The organisation ruling body, the IRFU Ulster Branch, have developed a comprehensive range of key performance indicators to assess the performance of the organisation. These evaluate both the numbers participating and the quality of service being delivered to members. There is potential for injury in all sports involving physical contact. However the policies, strategies and regulations of the governing body and the parent club have been developed to ensure that the potential risk to young players is minimisied. The organisation also has stringent child protection policies and practices to ensure player development occurs in a safe and secure environment. The organisations beneficiaries are young people (from pre school to 18 years old) of both genders from the greater Belfast area. The organisation's club, Malone RFC, operates a club bar providing food and drink to members. Players and their parents can avail of these services; generating income for the club. However as a Community Amateur Sports Club all profits from these activities are re-invested in club facilities for the sporting benefit of all members.
