What your organisation does
On an annual basis, Green Shoot Productions applies for grants to commission 1 or more playwrights to write new work, which Green Shoot Production then produces as a show, working with public Theatre and Community venues. The plays commissioned will address key social issues pertinent to Northern Ireland and reflect a diversity of voice on stage.
In parallel to commissioning and producing, Green Shoot Productions organises community engagement programmes. These vary in accordance with the topic of the play and production and are developed in also in partnership with various other community or educational partners and are delivered to target participants, with Green Shoot Productions contracting specifically skilled facilitators. Green Shoot Productions charges for its shows in Arts and Community venues with reduced rate Community Tickets for each productions. Green Shoot Productions covers its cost of commissioning, production and training through a combination of grant aid and earned income (though box office).
