Public benefits

The direct benefits that flow from this purpose are people being able to study and understand the Bible for themselves. This builds up individual Christians in their faith and helps them to more effectively serve in their local church. As people develop their personal inductive study skills they can opt to be trained to lead others in inductive

bible study. Such leaders can hold their study classes within the general community and / or in the context of their local church so strengthening the local church community. These benefits are demonstrated through gathering and monitoring of statistics on a monthly basis which are then used to collate statistics on an annual basis. Statistics gathered include number of classes, number of students, number of new classes and students in that month, number of leaders currently running classes and number of new leaders being trained. Numbers attending workshops and seminars, including those attending for the first time are also collated. As the number of leaders grow in a geographical area, another demonstration of benefit is the appointment of an Area Leader to mentor and support these leaders. An important demonstration of benefit is the feedback from individuals following participation in study classes or training seminars. The main possibility of harm for the staff and volunteers is associated with travel throughout Ireland. However this is a common risk for all who travel and the benefit outweighs the possibility of harm. There is a small risk of harm for staff, volunteers and students in the office environment but the on-site Risk Register addresses any possible harm and the benefit outweighs this possible harm. The charity’s beneficiaries are those who wish to study the Bible for themselves and / or with others. This includes, but is not restricted to, those already associated with a church. There is no private benefit flowing from the purpose.

What your organisation does

Equipping people with inductive study skills to help them understand the message of the Bible for themselves. This is achieved through workshops and seminars and through running Bible study classes. Providing various levels of bible study resources and leader training. The bible study resources can be used at a personal level, but most often used

in a group setting. Thus leader training is available for all who wish to lead such bible study discussion groups using these resources. Making training and resources available to all. This is achieved through four main avenues. The organisation’s website advertises the study classes, workshops and seminars and includes an on-line shop where resources can purchased. Exhibition space at large public Christian events is rented each year. The general public can visit the organisation’s office, which is situated in a building on York Street near the centre of Belfast and open during normal office hours, where they can view and purchase any of the resources and discuss any of their training needs. An email update, for those who have requested it, is also sent on a regular basis.
