What are the direct benefits flowing from your organisation's purposes? • Improved knowledge in relation to the negative impact of drugs and alcohol on general welfare, resulting in healthier life choices being made, and reduced levels of drug and alcohol abuse. • Beneficiaries will have the moral tools to apply to making decisions about substance
use through the Christian perspective of the programmes. • Reduced levels of alcohol and drug abuse amongst youth and the wider community as a whole. • Other influencers including potentially teachers, youth leaders and others in position of authority provided with accurate information on addressing issues surrounding alcohol and drug abuse with a view to reduction/prevention. • Reduced levels of substance use related illness and death in the community. • Improved relations in the family unit in the absence of alcohol and drug abuse. • Reduced drug and alcohol related crime within the community and general public. • Improvement in spiritual welfare as result of the Christian teachings in the programmes. How can the benefits identified above be demonstrated? • From feedback from the individuals and organisations in relation to the programmes delivered. • From personal testimonies of beneficiaries in relation to the impact of the programmes. • Increased number of requests from local schools and organisations wishing to prevail of the programmes offered including an increase in the Geographical reach in terms of organisations prevailing of the programmes. • Requests for repeat visits to local schools and organisations. • The initiative in local schools has only been taking place for a relatively short period of time and it would be the intention of the Council to carry out more comprehensive consideration and evaluation of the feedback with a view to measuring the impact of the programmes. There is no harm arising from any of the purposes. The charity's beneficiaries are the general public in Northern Ireland, but particularly children and young people in the vicinity of Portadown and the Craigavon area. Also potentially drug and alcohol abusers / addicts and their families. There is no private benefit flowing from any of the purposes.
What your organisation does
By supporting (financially or otherwise) in the delivery of education programmes in local schools, youth organisations, church organisations, appropriate public events and to other interest groups to raise awareness of the dangers of alcohol and drug abuse with a view to providing the necessary moral tools from a Christian perspective and accurate
information to assist the beneficiaries of the programmes to consider thoughtfully their life choices in respect of alcohol and drug use with a focus on the best outcome for their physical, mental and spiritual welfare. The Council provides this support through funding the delivery of the programmes, printed media and materials to provide information on the use of alcohol and drugs and providing appropriate resources and support when the opportunity arises to promote the purposes of the Council.
