Public benefits

What are the direct benefits flowing from your organisation's purposes? The public benefit gained from the work of HOPE03 in the Philippines is designed to contribute to the relief of financial distress and poverty, the prevention of ill-health, the advancement of health and potentially with the saving of lives. There is significant public

benefit resulting in the relief of financial hardship, improved health outcomes and reduced levels of stress and anxiety within families and the wider community. It impacts on a vulnerable population by virtue of the contribution it makes to the relief of poverty in a disadvantaged community that would otherwise be unable to access education and health care facilities. Other overseas initiatives deliver financial support to individuals, youth groups and school groups volunteering to contribute to the delivery of projects overseas including the African continent. These result in benefits to the communities by virtue of improved housing, and schools and health centres. The benefits also extend to the provision of water pumping projects designed to ensure the provision of clean water in areas where the health challenges for children and adults are acute. The incidental benefits of improved social infrastructure and social conditions for deprived and underdeveloped communities include the potential for significant improvements in community health. The public benefit also extends to the advancement of education for deprived children. The support that HOPE03 provides for these projects also extends to the personal, social and educational development of the young volunteers engaging in these altruistic activities on behalf of the organisations they are representing. HOPE03 also supports significant needy projects in Northern Ireland resulting in the relief of poverty and financial hardship. How can the benefits identified above be demonstrated? HOPE03 receives written feedback, often accompanied by photographic evidence, from all recipients, organisations and individual families that benefit from its financial support. The feedback advises on the use to which the support has been applied and emphasises the contribution their projects have made to the relief of financial hardship, to improvements in the health and welfare of recipients and the promotion of education for children and young people. Improvements in the social and community experiences of beneficiaries are often reported and emphasise the contribution projects have made to the health and wellbeing of individuals and communities, with the relief from poverty, and with reducing financial and emotional distress. The evidence of the value of the public benefit specific to the Philippines projects is demonstrated by regular feedback from the Philippines parish. This is articulated to the local parish clergy in the Philippines by the disadvantaged families benefiting from the financial support. Although HOPE03’s contribution to the projects it supports is relatively small scale there is evidence from published reports and the media that supporting needy causes and charitable projects financially does make a contribution to advancing the health and wellbeing of the population generally. Who are the charity's beneficiaries? Hope03’s beneficiaries are individuals, organisations and groups within the wider population both locally and internationally that seek financial assistance for projects and needy causes concerned with the relief of poverty, sickness, youth, the aged and those with a disability.

What your organisation does

HOPE03 was established in 2003 to raise funds to assist with the relief of poverty and to assist charitable projects throughout the world. In meeting its objectives the charity has supported needy groups and projects both locally and overseas. In attempting to Overcome Poverty Everywhere (HOPE03), all charitable projects addressed are concerned

with the relief of poverty, and with the relief of those in need by reason of age, ill-health, disability and those suffering financial hardship. Operating within the legislative and regulatory framework of the Charity Commission for Northern Ireland HOPE03 endorses the vision of the Commission. A written constitution underpins the work of HOPE03 and the Management Committee of Trustees seek and encourage requests from organisations, groups and individuals for help and support in the relief of poverty and financial hardship.. The Management Committee undertake the overall administration of the charity, determine the award of funds and are responsible for their distribution and administration. Particular examples of the work of HOPE03 relate to two long standing projects that provide financial support to vulnerable groups in the Philippines. One project involves the raising of funds to enable poor families to provide underprivileged children with their basic right to receive an education and the other is concerned with supporting and maintaining a Medical Centre in the locality. Although relatively small scale, the work of HOPE03 also extends to supporting needy causes and relieving financial hardship across a broad spectrum of organisations, groups and individuals in Northern Ireland.
