Public benefits
The trustees are satisfied that the public benefit requirement is met. The direct benefits flowing from purpose (a) include improved moral support, social engagement and interaction, computer literacy, skills, career pathways and education as well as the provision of information on accessing health and social care services in the community.
Further benefits include better advocacy on behalf of migrants who may not be able to access services for which they are eligible. The beneficiaries will be parents of African descent who have children suffering from long-term illnesses and disabilities in the Greater Belfast area and Northern Ireland. These benefits can be demonstrated by promoting social inclusion through engagement in community activities, home visitations, group meetings, twice weekly calls to check on parents and carers etc. The direct benefits flowing from purpose (b) include the improved resourcing of relief work amongst children with disabilities in Africa through fundraising for facilities for their care, education and health through financial support directly or the purchasing and sending of medical equipment, educational equipment and clothing. Further benefits include the provision of access to clean water, mosquito repellents (nets) in facilities caring for disabled children; financial contribution towards the provision of sanitary items and the donation of relief materials to institutions caring for children suffering long-term illnesses and disabilities. The beneficiaries of this purpose are children suffering long term health illnesses and disabilities in Nigeria and Africa in general. These benefits can be demonstrated through the needs being met as a result of funds raised during fund raising activities and individual contributions. The proceeds are either sent directly to support associations we will be working directly with in Nigeria and other part of Africa, or used in purchasing and sending support items to the beneficiaries of the foundation. There is no harm or private benefit arising from our purposes.
